Observation Home and Children Home (Boys) Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar



The District Probation and After Care Association, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) is a registered Public Charitable Trust, working for the care, protection, and rehabilitation of vulnerable children since 20 July 1957. Established by freedom fighter Late Shri Hirubhau Jagtap, the institution is the first organization of its kind in the Marathwada region dedicated to child welfare.
The institution functions as per the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 and admits children through the Juvenile Justice Board and Child Welfare Committee. It provides support to orphaned, abandoned, neglected, destitute, child labourers, and children in conflict with law. The institution has government approval to care for up to 50 children and provides free shelter, nutritious food, clothing, education, vocational training, computer education, and musical training.
For over five decades, the organization has been working continuously to rehabilitate children and help them lead a dignified and self-reliant life. In recognition of its outstanding contribution to child welfare, the institution was honored with the prestigious “Punyashlok Ahilyadevi Holkar Award” by the Women and Child Development Department, Government of Maharashtra.
The institution receives basic support grants from the Women and Child Development Department, Government of Maharashtra, while additional developmental activities are carried out with the help of donations from corporate organizations, charitable trusts, social institutions, and well-wishers. Organizations such as Lions Club, Rotary Club, Hindustan Petroleum, Sterlite Technologies, Orchid Pharmaceuticals, and many individuals have supported the institution from time to time. The Honourable District Collector is the Ex-Officio President of the institution. The organization is guided by an experienced managing committee and dedicated staff who ensure transparent administration and the overall development of every child.
Since its establishment, more than 12,000 children have benefited from the institution. Many former inmates are today serving society as judges, police officers, army personnel, teachers, government officers, and successful professionals, which stands as a true testament to the institution’s impact. The institution remains committed to nurturing responsible citizens and continues to work towards expanding its facilities, skill-development programs, and rehabilitation services with the support of society.

Future Vision and Plans of the Institution
The institution aims to expand its services through:
- To strengthen and expand the Observation Home and Children Home facilities.
- To construct a new, fully equipped building for children and for the functioning of the Child Welfare Committee and Juvenile Justice Board.
- To construct a modern building with all necessary facilities for a library, old age home, and hostel.
- To establish a vocational training center for children to enhance their employable skills.
- To set up an independent library to promote reading and learning habits.
- To establish an Old Age Home for the care and support of senior citizens.
- To start a Day Care Center to serve the needs of the community.
